Despite the Covid-19 Virus, over the weekend of the 14th and 15th March 2020 163 Old Boys with their wives and partners attended a Reunion weekend at the Spa Ocean Room in Scarborough.
Their College years ranged from 1945 to 1969 and the OSA presented the oldest Old Boy, Roger Loads who left in 1952 with a bottle of Wine. The partner of the youngest Old Boy Richard Lofthouse, was presented with a box of chocolates. Michael Rhodes who left in 1948 and his wife Gay were presented with wine and chocolates being the longest married couple on the night – 63 years and still happy!
The guests enjoyed a superb Buffet on the Saturday evening and the room was full of laughter and enjoyment as stories and memories were being recounted. The Head Teacher, Mr. Guy Emmett, gave a short update on the state of the College and was pleased to report how well it was doing and he also gave those present an update on the re-building of the Cricket Pavilion. Guests were also delighted to hear the value the College places on the OSA and continued to pledge its support. The 300 Club draw took place with the winner receiving a special prize of £500.
Around 75 guests enjoyed a Bucks Fizz Drinks Reception on the Sunday followed by a lunch during which many archive photos were shown, and these clearly brought more memories and stories flooding back.
Please enjoy the photos on our website and a very big thank you to everyone who attended to make the weekend a tremendous success during challenging circumstances which Old Boys and wives stoically overcame. Anyone wishing to have a copy of any of the pictures of tables of guests please email osa@scarboroughcollege.co.uk with the table number.
Everyone owes an enormous debt of gratitude to OSA President John Isles who single-handedly organised the event.
